Friday 21 October: Members not logging on to PULSE

Members not logging on to PULSE

All Sergeant and Inspectors have suffered a significant pay loss since the financial emergency and the implementation of a number of FEMPI measures. All our members are calling on us to fight to restore those losses.
Members are aware of how we came to a situation where by we held a Special Delegate Conference yesterday in Athlone and the purpose of that conference. You are now also aware ofwhat emerged from that meeting.
Delegates heard how Government have no interest in addressing your pay concerns and they continue to long finger AGSI’s legitimate access to the Workplace Relations Commission.
Considering the information provided delegates were asked if they believed this was sufficient information to individually decide to take industrial action.
Overwhelmingly delegates agreed they would individually take action.
The first step involves members not logging on to PULSE from 7am this Friday 21 October until 7am on Saturday 22 October.
What  does this mean for individual members?
By not logging on to PULSE there will be minimal impact on the public. However it will meanSergeants and Inspectors will not:
  • Create an incident or review an incident;
  • Check incidents, vehicles or other items of interest;
  • Complete or manage prisoner logs on PULSE;
  • Record property items or manage Section 41 vehicles;
  • Provide directions relating to supervision of investigations through PULSE. Note, oral or written instructions may be given;
  • Conduct any other PULSE activity; or
  • Prepare information to support PAF meetings.
These  actions may mean that Gardaí cannot create a charge sheet or a summons. It will meanSergeants and Inspectors who access their emails through PULSE should not receive or send emails throughout this 24-hour period.
Branch Secretaries should circulate this information throughout their Branch immediately.  They should ensure all members have details of what they can do to support pay restoration.

It is critical all members undertake this first step together.

Garda Management will undoubtedly assess our commitment to taking action in the future based on how members implement the first two days of action.
The old adage a good beginning is half the battle has relevance here.
With the full support of members we will give a clear indication of our intention and it will strengthen the hand of the AGSI negotiating team.
Branch Secretaries should highlight the impact failure to support this initiative will have on our overall campaign.
Members are reminded that they must decide on this course of action individually to advance their claim for pay restoration.
