MEP Ciaran Mullooly has raised the matter of collective bargaining rights for Gardai in the European Parliament during a Plenary session last night. It comes following representations made by AGSI and the GRA in conjunction with EuroCOP to the Parliament’s PETI Committee.
We are seeking updated and more robust industrial relations mechanisms for our members so they have the same rights as other workers in the state.
We thank MEP Mullooly for his support and his efforts on behalf of our Association and the GRA.
Representatives from both Associations recently met and held very constructive meetings with the following Irish MEPs: Cynthia Ni Mhurchu, Regina Doherty, Michael McNamara, Sean Kelly, and Maria Walsh.
The AGSI wishes to thank all the aforementioned MEPs for their assistance in progressing the issue of collective bargaining rights for members of An Garda Síochána and we look forward to further future collaboration as we seek to progress this matter through the European process.
