Policing and Risk – AGSI Deputy General Secretary Speaks at International Conference in Portugal
The AGSI Deputy General Secretary took part in a seminar on the psychosocial risk associated with policing. John Jacob represented the Association in Portugal where he spoke on the subject. The conference was arranged by the authority for working conditions (ACT) as a national Focal point (NFP) of the European Agency for safety and health at work (EU-OSHA) and the Portuguese Police Union, ASAPOL.
Psychosocial hazards are related to the way work is designed, organised and managed, as well as the economic and social context of work. Linked to psychosocial risks are issues such as occupational stress and workplace violence which are recognised internationally as a major challenge to occupational health and safety.
