Representatives from the AGSI participated in a seminar to address the issues surrounding inadequate terms and conditions pertaining to 2013 Pensions for fast accrual uniformed emergency service workers. The event took place on the 27th of January 2026 at the Dublin Fire Brigade training centre in Marino.
The campaign entitled “Secure our Future” is an advocacy campaign undertaken by the AGSI along with the other three Garda representative Association’s, The Prison officers Association, PDForra, and RACO from the Defence Forces and Siptu representing Dublin Fire Brigade
The objective of the campaign is too highlight the inadequacy of the current Public Sector Single Pension Scheme for entrants to the fast accrual emergency services post 2012 and garner both political and public support in seeking to effect change on the terms and conditions of the Single pension Scheme to ensure members of the emergency services have adequate pensions to maintain a respectful standard of living upon retirement.
The AGSI is of the view that the 2013 Single Pension Scheme is the catalyst and single biggest contributor to the ongoing and historic low levels of recruitment currently seen into An Garda Siochana along with the increasing high levels of resignations contributing to significant retention issues for the organisation.
The AGSI will continue to pursue this important matter in conjunction with our partners, and on behalf of our membership.
