AGSI Statement on Working Time Directive Concerns Ahead of EU Presidency

The National Executive of the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors (AGSI) will meet this afternoon to discuss ongoing concerns regarding the Working Time Directive (WTD) and working arrangements for the imminent EU Presidency meetings.

AGSI has repeatedly sought clarity from senior Garda management on matters relating to the Working Time Directive and its application to these events.

Despite submitting formal written queries over the past three weeks, AGSI has received no formal response or clarification from senior Garda management.

AGSI also regards the Garda Commissioner’s comments yesterday as inflammatory and unhelpful, particularly at a time when the Association has been seeking constructive engagement and clarity on these matters.

The Association is deeply disappointed by the continued lack of engagement from senior Garda management, particularly given the importance of these issues to our members.

AGSI considers it unacceptable that legitimate concerns raised through established channels remain unanswered, particularly given the importance of the upcoming EU Presidency meetings and the responsibilities being placed on our members.
