AGSI Attends Annual Garda Memorial Ceremony in Dublin

The Annual Garda Memorial Ceremony was held on May 16th at the Garda Síochána Memorial Garden in Dubh Linn Gardens, Dublin, to honour the 90 members of An Garda Síochána who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Held each year at Dublin Castle, the ceremony brings together serving and retired Garda members, families, Garda management, representative associations, and dignitaries in remembrance of fallen colleagues and their service to communities across Ireland.

This year’s ceremony included a Ministerial Salute, inspection of the Guard of Honour, wreath-laying by families and dignitaries, and the reading of the Garda Roll of Honour. The occasion provided a respectful and moving tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the public.

Representatives from the Association of Garda Sergeants & Inspectors (AGSI) attended the ceremony to pay tribute on behalf of their members. Those in attendance included Kevin Sexton, AGSI Industrial Relations Officer, retired National Executive member Paul McDermott, and AGSI General Secretary Ronan Clogher.

Garda management was also represented by Assistant Commissioner Angela Willis alongside other senior Garda representatives.

The annual memorial ceremony continues to be an important event within An Garda Síochána, offering colleagues, families, and friends an opportunity to reflect on the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of members who gave their lives in the line of duty.
