On Tuesday 28th May a Wellness Day was held in the Glenroyal Hotel, Maynooth, Co Kildare. The event was organised by Superintendent Della Murray, Garda Employee Assistance Service. Twenty-four members of AGSI took part in the day’s events comprising of a get to know each other walk along the Royal Canal between Maynooth and Kilcock.
On our return to the hotel after an hour walking, we took part in team building exercises followed by lunch. In the afternoon we had a talk from Dr Richard Hogan, Clinical Director of the Therapy Institute. The talk covered issues such as Work Life Balance, Mental Awareness, Parenting to mention but a few. Following this we participated in a Mindfulness Exercise that showed us how to destress.
This is a stressless day well worth attending. Time to stop think an analyse our daily routines in such a stressful and demanding world. Superintendent Murray informed us that she intends rolling out more of these Wellness Days during the remainder of the year. If the opportunity comes your way to attend one of these days my advice to you take it up, don’t let the opportunity pass.
