Tribute to Former AGSI National Executive Member and Assistant Commissioner John O’Driscoll
The Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors has paid tribute to former Assistant Garda Commissioner John O’Driscoll who passed away yesterday (27 September, 2024).
He was a former member of the National Executive of AGSI from 2000-2002. He gave 41 years service to An Garda Síochána.
He was the head of the Garda’s Special Crimes Operations and responsible for building partnerships with law enforcement agencies in the UK, Europe and the United States which targeted transnational organised crime groups.
His work with the US authorities led to the establishment of a $15m fund for information on the leadership of the Kinahan Organised Crime Group now based in Dubai.
AGSI President Paul Curran described him as “an outstanding member of An Garda Siochana who worked tirelessly to protect all. He will be greatly missed by all his Garda colleagues.”
Condolences to John’s wife Muriel and their three children Michelle, Laura and Sean.
