Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan, who is the President of the Benevolent Trust Fund thanked Sgt. Wallace for his service.
Sgt. Wallace said his tenure is one that stands out in his entire career. “This is one of the most rewarding and fruitful roles in my career. It’s great that An Garda Síochána has a fund which provides an invaluable service to serving or retired members who experience hardship and especially during the most recent times of austerity.”
There was also a mass and social evening for Retired Members of An Garda Síochána in Ballybofey last month, the proceeds of which were donated to the Garda Benevolent Trust Fund.
