RIP Former Deputy General Secretary of AGSI, Joe Curran

The death of Joseph Curran 16704E occurred on Friday 8th March 2024.

Joe was a former Deputy General Secretary of AGSI. He served in the following stations: Falcarragh and Churchill Donegal, Mountjoy and Garda Headquarters and Phoenix Park.

He was a diligent worker and always went that extra mile in representing members. He was predeceased by his wife Julie in 2013.

During the Morris Tribunal which sat from 2003 to 2007, Joe who was a Barrister at Law (BL), was the AGSI Liaison Person at the tribunal working with Michael Hegarty, Solicitor who represented AGSI members at the tribunal.

Judging from the numbers that turned out at Joe’s funeral to bid him farewell, he was liked and appreciated by so many.

Following his retirement be became active in many organisations. He was Chairman of the Kildare North Branch of the Garda Siochana Retired members Association, he did Meal on Wheels, was vey involved in Parish Work, he was on the board of the local Credit Union to mention but a few.

He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, former colleagues and passed member of the National Executive Committee and Secretariat.

To his family daughter, Natasha and sons, Vincent, Jim, Shane and Conal and his loving best friend Mary, we wish you or deepest condolences.
