The Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors (AGSI) met with the Minister for Justice, Jim O’Callaghan, this week for a timely discussion on a number of pressing issues affecting members.

The meeting took place as AGSI continues to actively progress several long-standing and urgent matters on behalf of our 2,500 Sergeant and Inspector members serving within An Garda Síochána.

Key issues raised included the need to advance the pensions issue, the ongoing stalemate regarding sub-in travel arrangements, which has remained unresolved for the past six years, and growing concerns around the impact of social media on members. In particular, AGSI highlighted the increasing prevalence of members being filmed, photographed, and having content published online while carrying out their duties.

AGSI thanks the Minister for his time and for the open dialogue during the meeting. The Association looks forward to further engagement and hopes to receive positive updates when delegates and stakeholders come together at the AGSI Annual Delegate Conference in Westport at the end of March.
